The Government of Assam has launched a flagship social welfare initiative aimed at empowering female students, encouraging higher education, and preventing child marriage across the state. This initiative is known as the Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina Scheme (Nijut Moina Aasoni).

What is the Nijut Moina Scheme? Nijut Moina Scheme Assam 2026: Apply Online, Eligibility & Monthly Stipend Details
Initiated by Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the primary objective of the Nijut Moina Scheme is to promote female literacy, increase the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in higher education, and significantly reduce dropout rates among girl students.
Under this initiative, the state government provides direct monthly financial assistance (Direct Benefit Transfer – DBT) to female students studying from Higher Secondary (Class 11) up to Post-Graduation and B.Ed levels.
Financial Assistance & Stipend Structure
Eligible students receive financial support for 10 months in an academic year (stipend is paused during the summer vacation months of June and July):

Eligibility Criteria
To avail of the benefits under the Nijut Moina Scheme, applicants must fulfill the following conditions:
- Domicile: The student must be a permanent resident (domicile) of Assam.
- Eligible Institutions: Must be enrolled in a recognized Government, Provincialised, or Government-aided school, college, or university.
- Marital Status: Female students studying in Class 11, Class 12, and Graduation must be unmarried. (Note: This condition is relaxed for female students enrolled in PG and B.Ed courses).
- Attendance & Discipline: Students must maintain a minimum of 75% attendance in classes and adhere to proper institutional discipline.
- No Income Bar: There is no family income limit; girl students from all economic backgrounds in government institutions are eligible.
Who is Ineligible for the Scheme?
- Students enrolled in private schools, colleges, or universities.
- Daughters of Ministers, MPs (Members of Parliament), and MLAs (Members of Legislative Assembly).
- Beneficiaries who have already received scooters under the Banikanta Kakati Merit Award.
- Candidates pursuing B.Ed under in-service / deputation status.
